Canada and the US, his mother’s Friday evening meals during Lent are among his greatest childhood
His mother cooked unique dishes from her own childhood, recipes that she brought
with her from Italy. “We grew to love those meals,” Fr. Kesicki says.
He still tries to make it to his mom’s for at least one Friday meal
during Lent. Her dinners, he says, helped him realize that giving something up
isn’t merely doing without. “It’s a change of life, it’s a change of focus, it’s
